Out of curiosity, I crunched some travel numbers and here is a cost comparison example between vacationing in Mexico and vacationing here:

Pricing out several hotels in various areas of Mexico and even in selecting the super saver and early booking discount, the rate for an all-inclusive, one room super saver for one adult and one child is — including an early booking bonus of saving 40% on a hotel they would likely reside for the duration of the trip, the total is a whopping: $2,133.60. That does NOT include flights.

To vacation here in Florida staying on the water in one of our nicest hotels for seven nights: $1,279.37

By comparison, to vacation in the Olympic Peninsula off the coast of Washington State for the same amount of time in a full luxury cottage with no discounts: $1,009.44

And to vacation off the coast of my home state of North Carolina in one of the most beautiful coastal areas in America for seven nights: $1,000.10

The numbers illustrate the same pattern of the complete lack of interest in spending wisely by this president and I’d also like to know how they flew there — if on AF1 that’s several hundred thousand dollars. And flying commercial is pricing out at between $305 and $770 as well. Private? At least $50,000 for that many people on the cheapest jet rental you could find. Any way you look at this, it’s a bad idea for American taxpayers and a bad idea in general. 

Finally  as a travel writer for well over ten years — I have recommended specific places in Mexico and Mexico is included in my travel book. But I would not recommend travel to Mexico right now. Between the time I wrote my first travel book and now, the violence has escalated so much I would not recommend travel there for children especially and most certainly not for dignitaries and their relations. Is there no limit for what this first family will do to push the envelope of appropriate behavior, comments, financial choices and setting an example for the nation?  Why not teach this daughter how important it is to support America and visit the land her father is supposed to serve?
